PLATINE NOIREE CENTER SPEAKER
The center speaker is in many ways identical to the floor speaker in the Platine Noiree series. It is important that the front speaker and center speaker compliment each other to get a uniform and homogeneous sound image. Many manufacturers focus on the center speaker and give it insufficient equipment compared to the front speakers. With the new digital audio formats for both movies and music, this approach is not sound. That is why the Platine Noiree center speaker is equipped like the front speakers in the system. This ensures identical headroom and impact, regardless of where the sound is coming from. The Platine Noiree center speaker reproduces bass powerfully and uncompressed down to 25 Hz. This is possible due to the unique patented SLAPS (Symmetrically Loaded Audio Passive System) technology.
All speakers in the Platine Noiree series are magnetically shielded so that they can be placed without regard to magnetically sensitive devices.
Long-throw construction for exceptional performance
Several unique technologies place Platine Noiree in a class of its own. They possess a performance known from speakers many times larger. Platine Noiree's 4" bass/midrange units' high-performance long-throw construction provides a performance that matches traditional 6½" units. These units are equipped with high poly-ether edge suspensions that allow exceptionally long travel without deformation and distortion. The diaphragm is made from a specially formulated rigid lightweight poly-injected material that ensures fast and transient-like reproduction. The unit's magnet system is triple-stacked (triple), which ensures long and precise travel even under high load.
Superior performance with patented benefits
The patented SLAPS (Symmetrically Loaded Audio Passive System) technology enables the Platine Noiree to reproduce subsonic frequencies. Traditionally, slim speakers are limited in their ability to reproduce deep bass due to small units and reduced cabinet volume. The SLAPS technology overcomes these limitations. Platine Noiree is equipped with a 10" SLAPS unit, pneumatically coupled to the four 4" long-throw units in the front. The technology makes it possible to tune a slim speaker to reproduce very low frequencies. SLAPS has no annoying port noise and enables deep bass from a compact volume. SLAPS promotes the dynamics of a smaller speaker, where a closed construction often has difficulties. In a closed design, the pneumatic loading of the unit increases as a function of its travel, this can compress the reproduction of bass frequencies. The SLAPS technology has none of these limitations and due to the low tuning there is a full reproduction of deep tones. If a traditional speaker is exposed to tones below its tuning frequency, it can lead to uncontrolled and potentially harmful wander as the speaker self-oscillates.
Advanced dual wide-band supertweeter module
It was the desire for uncompromising supertweeter performance that led to the design of the unique dual wide-band supertweeter module in Platine Noiree. A supertweeter is a treble device specially made to reproduce the very high tones above 20 KHz. Traditionally, a supertweeter is a smaller tweeter unit mounted above the regular tweeter. From a sonic point of view, the ability to reproduce overtones is certainly desirable, it just must not come at the expense of the overall musical experience. Music and technology must be in harmony. This realization became the starting point for the development of the wide-band treble. The wide-band construction is a tweeter unit that combines the regular tweeter and the super tweeter in one unit.
The design of a unit that reproduces both the high and full high notes overcame the harmonic difficulties known from the traditional separate tweeter/supertweeter construction. The wide-band module enables a construction free of mechanical and electrical transition between the reproduction of the high notes. Reproduction of the very high notes makes great demands on the speed of a device, to ensure this speed the mass and size of the device must be minimized. The volume of sound generated by a device is a product of surface area times motion, the louder a note the less surface area and motion required for a given volume. To optimize the treble volume in the lower frequencies, the double wide-band module was developed.
First class craftsmanship
The cabinets are made of solid HDF (high density fibreboard) with a thickness of 2.5 cm. Each individual cabinet is built around an internal skeleton made of a unique wood and epoxy composite material. The cabinet's unique finish is a multi-stage process that begins with thorough priming and sanding of the cabinet's surface. This is followed by several coats of black lacquer with fine sanding between coats. Which is finished with a smooth and deep clear coat. The cabinet is thoroughly polished and has a smooth and soft super refined finish that sets the standard for elegance.
